Inmate Art
Mixed media by inmates at Avery Mitchell Correctional Facility

"Tiger" by Kurtis Zollman

The works on display were created by students in Heather Lewis' basic drawing class, taught at Avery Mitchell Correctional Facility in Spruce Pine, NC.

The class was one of the many college classes offered through UNC Asheville at four regional correctional facilities.

The exhibition shows a selection of both formal class work and personal, experimental drawings that reflect some of the students' concerns, ideas or circumstances.

An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, June 30, from 5-7 pm.

The exhibit will be on display June 30 - August 28.
