The Self Service Audio Recording Studio (ARS) is located within the Media Design Lab / CrAFT Studio area on the lower level of Ramsey Library. It offers patrons a quiet place to record personal and academic audio projects including podcasts, voice overs, interviews, and more. This space is for current UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff only. Drop-ins are welcome or reservations can be made by clicking the button below.
The ARS is a sound isolation booth, measuring 12.5 feet X 15 feet and is equipped with 2 Audio-Technica AT4033CL cardioid condenser microphones, Atlas microphone stands with booms, pop filters, music stands, and Sony headphones. High quality audio is captured digitally using Adobe Audition software on a 27" iMac with a PreSonus Studio 24C interface. Recorded files can be saved in a variety of formats and transferred via flash drive, share drive, or SD card.
Detailed self service operating instructions are provided in the Studio and technical assistance is available if necessary. Contact Kevin Watson, Kent Thompson, or the MDL desk staff for more information.
