Please note: There are 2 audio recording facilities in Ramsey Library: the Audio Recording Studio (ARS) and the Audio Lab. The ARS is a self service studio and should not be confused with the Audio Lab, which is a full service lab where technicians do the recording for you.
For all ARS patrons: Whether you have a reservation or would like to drop in, the ARS door is locked at all times. To have someone unlock the ARS, do one of the following:
Just let the staff member know you would like to use the ARS or that you have a reservation, and they will unlock the door for you.
Note: If for some reason you cannot reach anyone by the above methods, visit the circulation desk on the main floor of the library and ask someone to unlock the door for you.
Our online reservation system is temporarily unavailable. You can still reserve the ARS by any of the methods listed below:
Visit the MDL Help Desk or office #038 (MDL Staff office across from the Media Design Lab)
The ARS is a sound isolation booth, measuring 12.5 feet X 15 feet and is equipped with 2 Audio-Technica AT4033CL cardioid condenser microphones, Atlas microphone stands with booms, pop filters, music stands, and Sony headphones. High quality audio is captured digitally using Adobe Audition software on a 27" iMac with a PreSonus Studio 24C interface. Recorded files can be saved in a variety of formats and transferred via flash drive, share drive, or SD card.
Detailed self service operating instructions are provided in the Studio and technical assistance is available if necessary.
