If desired, a patron can replace a lost or damaged item with an exact copy of the borrowed item, pending the appropriate subject bibliographer's approval. To replace a lost item with a purchased copy:

  • Visit the Circulation Services Desk in Ramsey Library or contact the billing supervisor at 828-251-6434.
  • After contacting the appropriate staff member, we will send you a link for an acceptable replacement to purchase.
  • Purchase the replacement copy and bring it to the Circulation Services Desk when it arrives.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Circulation Services Desk or the phone number listed above.

Reciprocal Borrowing

UNCA students, faculty, and staff are entitled to borrowing privileges at other libraries in the UNC system. UNCA users must present their UNCA OneCard in order to check out books from cooperating libraries.

Upon presenting your OneCard, the cooperating library is authorized to access your patron record to verify your current enrollment status. The lending library may place restrictions on the types and quantity of materials that are loaned to reciprocal borrowers.

Books borrowed from other UNC system schools may be returned to Ramsey Library for shipment back to the lending library.

Ask at the Circulation Desk (828.251.6336) in Ramsey Library for additional information about this service.
