Podcast Studio

  

The Podcast Studio (RAM 109) is located on the main level of Ramsey Library.  It offers patrons a quiet place to record personal and academic audio projects including podcasts, voice overs, interviews, and more. This space is for current UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff only. Drop-ins are welcome or you can make a reservation below.

Please note: There are 2 audio recording facilities in Ramsey Library: the Audio Lab and the Podcast Studio.  The Audio Lab is a full service lab where technicians do the recording for you, and the Podcast Studio is a self service, Do-It-Yourself recording studio.


For assistance in the Podcast Studio:

  • Visit the MDL Help Desk
  • Visit Laurel Buffaloe, the Media Design Lab Manager RAM 106 (or call 828.250.3951)
  • Visit Kent Thompson in Video Production, Suite 30, lower level (or call 828.251.6425)

Reservations

Want to reserve the Podcast Studio?

Before you reserve, please note:

  • Please enter your @unca.edu email address when reserving the studio.

  • If you're running late for your appointment, we will hold the studio for 15 minutes before turning it over to the next person in line.

  • After placing your reservation make sure you receive an automatic confirmation email.

 


Note: This online reservation system only allows 1 hour blocks of time per reservation. If you would like to reserve the studio for more than an hour, you will need to make multiple reservations!

About

The Podcast Studio measures 10.9 feet X 6.11 feet and is equipped with:

  • Hardware
    • 24" iMac with a PreSonus Studio 24C interface
    • 2 Audio-Technica AT4033CL cardioid condenser microphones
    • Auray desk-mounted microphone boom arms with pop filters
    • Sony headphones
  • Software
    • Adobe Audition, Audacity, Ableton Live and GarageBand are installed on the iMac for audio and MIDI recording

Recorded files can be saved in a variety of formats and transferred via share drive, SD card, or flash drive.

Detailed self service operating instructions are provided in the Studio and technical assistance is available if necessary.
