Ramsey Library Instruction & Outreach Services

Ramsey Library supports the learning, research and community missions of the University of North Carolina Asheville by offering group instruction and individual consultation in locating, evaluating and using information resources in ways that are effective, ethical, academically rigorous and creative.

Our librarians are available to collaborate with UNC Asheville faculty on developing information literacy goals, assignments and instruction sessions. Faculty may submit requests via the library’s Instruction Request Form or by contacting libref@unca.edu. Faculty may also request a course-specific resource list LibGuide by using the Course Guide Request Form.

Outreach to Schools
As our schedule allows, Ramsey Library offers a limited number of instruction and outreach activities in support of information literacy and library research skills to area primary and secondary schools. Interested teachers and school representatives should contact libref@unca.edu

School groups are also welcome to visit the library for self-guided tours. Our facility is open to the public and all are welcome to browse our collections. Please note that UNC Asheville students have priority use of our computer workstations.

Student groups must be chaperoned at all times while in the library, including during instruction sessions. The safety and behavior of students while on campus is the sole responsibility of group chaperones.

Minors and adults accompanying them on visits to Ramsey Library must comply with the UNC Asheville Policy on Programs and Activities Involving Minors on Campus.
