What is Web Conferencing?

Web conferencing is a form of real-time communications (RTC) in which multiple computer users, all connected to the Internet, see the same screen at all times in their Web browsers. Some Web conferencing systems include features such as texting, VoIP (voice over IP) and full-motion video.

Web Platforms

Google Hangout (Interactive low-bandwidth video conference):

   Google hangouts are a unique and diverse way to connect with a group of people over multiple platforms. You can connect using your phone, computer, or tablet. You can chat, call, or video call anytime anywhere. Your live video calls can have up to 10 feeds at one time so connecting with everyone is easy! You can stream live events, and once your live feed is over save it and share it on YouTube or Google+.

Bluejeans (Server based, browser based system):

   Multi-Vendor, Multi-Device, Multi-Party meetings. Standard meetings can maintain up to 25 audio or video connections at a time, or up to 100 connections with the large meetings add-on. You can share video and content in High-Definition. The basic recording allows you to record, watch and share your meeting, you can share the audio, video and content included in your meeting.

Skype (Interactive low-bandwidth video conference):

   Skype is a multi-device service that allows you to make calls, send messages, share content, and make video calls. You can make audio or video calls one-on-one or with a group on your phone, tablet, or computer.

WebEx Meeting Room (Interactive low-bandwidth video conference):

   WebEx Meeting Room is a great way to set up full meetings with participants. You can watch multiple video feeds, share and edit content, you can allow others to make changes to your content, and you can change hosts throughout your meeting.

WebEx Event Center (Interactive low-bandwidth video conference):

   WebEx Event Center is a great way to interact with participants in a meeting. You can have up to 5 active discussionists displayed side by side, all together next to your displayed content, or have one main speaker take up the full screen.You can interact with other participants by polling and surveying them throughout the meeting as well.

WebEx Webinar (Interactive low-bandwidth video conference) :

   A service offered through the WebEx event center. You can plan, set-up, and run an online seminar through the WebEx Event Center.

Adobe Connect (Interactive low-bandwidth video conference):

   Collaborate easily over multiple platforms using Adobe Connect. Host Web meetings, Deliver events through Webinars, and share knowledge or learning courses through eLearning.
