Transfer Students: Getting Started

Guide to Ramsey Library resources for transfers

Your ID

Use your RockyCard to check out library materials. Your RockyCard ID number is also your key to free printing, off-campus access to library materials and for requesting materials from other libraries.

Library Collections

Ramsey Library houses approximately 385,000 volumes and provides access to over two million book titles through the Western North Carolina Library Network (WNCLN).  The library also offers scholarly publications online, including more than 67,000 journals, thousands of e-books and 144 searcheable article databases.  These resources can be accessed by students, faculty and staff anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night.  A broad selection of film and music is also available for checkout.

Accessing Content

On-Campus Access

You can access library resources directly from anywhere on campus where you have an internet connection.

Off-Campus Access

You don't have to come to the library to use the online databases and other resources. To get access to electronic journal articles, e-books and more:

1.Follow links to library resources from our homepage.

2. Enter your first and last name and the number on your RockyCard.

Course Reserves

Some instructors place textbooks and other course materials on "reserve" at the Library. This means that the materials are being held for your class. To identify reserves for your class click "Course Reserves" on the library homepage and search by course number or instructor's name.  To request a reserve, please provide the staff at the Circulation Desk (on your left as you walk into the library) the reserve item number. They will check it out to you for the specified reserve time.

Student Library Jobs

Many of our library departments employ student workers. If you are interested in working complete this online application.  Library jobs are also listed with other on-campus jobs on the Career Center's website.
